15th Nov: Speak Your Truth (London)

From poet and activist BAKITA:KK comes a truly special event that combines spoken word, music and debate all in favour of what it means to own your space and speak your truth. Alongside BAKITA:KK, performing on the night will be: spoken word artist Abstract Benna (who has worked with the likes of Adidas, Roundhouse, BBC, National Gallery and many more); singer-song writer J Lavalay (who blends the sounds of blends R&B, gospel and soul) and fresh new poet T (who launched a talk show to speak on the issues affected young people)! 16th Nov: Being Mixed Race: History and Identity (Black Cultural Archives, London) 

Right in the heart of Windrush Square, Brixton, Black Cultural Archives will be hosting discussions about what it means to be mixed-race in 2019 Britain.  Speakers include Dr Chamion Caballero who is the director and co-founder of Mix-d Museum. This event is perfect for those who enjoy audience engagement and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the various nuances of black British history. bit.ly/32fRgL3 

22nd Nov: The Black Peril by Soweto Kinch (Hackney Arts Centre, London) 

Award winning alto saxophonist Soweto Kinch will be performing his dynamic new album, The Black Peril, at the EFG Jazz Festival, which runs annually in November. Inspired by West Indian folk music, proto jazz and ragtime, Kinch explores themes of social change while intertwining modern forms including hip-hop and trap. bit.ly/32fsNWn 

From 23rd Nov: Krept and Konan (National & Irish Tour; pictured above)  

The UK’s finest grime duo Krept and Konan are geared up for their biggest tour yet. Having recently hosted BBC rap competition The Rap Game, the dynamic duo will show their own talents by beginning their show in Dublin before setting off to Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, and finally their hometown in London on 5th December. bit.ly/2IOlCfQ 

28th Nov: Violet Nights x Bald Black Girl(s): Shop Talk (Southbank Centre, London) 

Southbank Centre presents a powerful exhibition curated by artist Ruth Sutoyé about black women who shave their heads, their representation in the media and how they are greeted at barbershops. The Violet Nights edition will host a screening of the poetry film Reign as well as discussions chaired by Chanté Joseph, live music and a special performance from poet Bridget Minamore. bit.ly/31chywC 

30th Nov: Black Owned Christmas Business Exhibition (Jubilee Conference Centre, Manchester) 

BOBExpo are ending the month, and kicking off the festive period with a Black Owned Christmas Exhibition. This platform has been curated for BAME business owners as well as ethnic specific products and services. 30th Nov: Eyes on the Prize? Diana Evans and Bernadine Evaristo (Brixton Library, London)  

Bernardine Evaristo and Diana Evans are hosting discussions on their latest novels Girl, Woman, Other and Ordinary People. Held at the Brixton Tate Library, this is a free event for literary lovers to join the prize-winning authors for a thought-provoking night and to explore their narratives that shine light on culture, sexuality and identity. bit.ly/2IJt7oz
