Ever since that LSE professor managed to single handedly arouse the bile of countless black women by claiming they were ‘scientifically unattractive’, colour sensitive items haven’t been far from the media spotlight. Here’s a round up of recent news:

  • Anyone watching the Monaco Grand Prix last week would have witnessed the uncomfortable moment when Lewis Hamilton suggested his frequent punishments were less to do with conduct on track and more to do with his skin colour. “Is it coz I is black?” he asked stewards before later apologising for his ill advised ‘joke’.
  • Naomi Campbell publicly blasted confectioners Cadbury’s after her name was used in promotion for their new ‘Bliss’ chocolate bar. The strapline: “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town” caused Ms. Campbell to deem the ad as “insulting and hurtful” to black women and black people in general.
  • Hairdresser to the stars and Kate Moss BFF James Brown, landed himself in hot water this week after drunkenly hurling abuse at a black TV presenter backstage at the Baftas. The situation which echoes Galliano gate, may see James losing his lucrative contract with high street retailer Boots.
