Short Hair Chic

Short Hair Chic, easy and enduringly cool – its time to go for the big chop.

There are women who look on enviously at those brave enough to cut their tresses hoping one day they will find the courage to go for the chop. And then there are the women who break out in a sweat at the thought of going for a trim every eight weeks. But whichever group you stand in now is the time to come on over to the crop side. Trust us, it will be one of the most liberating things you will ever do!

Top 3 tips on going short

  1. It’s all about the cut: So before going for the chop look through magazines for your perfect style and show it to your stylist. They will be able to tell you whether the style will suit you or not.
  2. Keep your features in mind: If you have a large forehead or big ears for example a Halle Berry pixie cut won’t work. Choose a long side swept fringe with short layers instead.
  3. Stay on top of your hair appointments:  You will need to have a crop trimmed regularly to maintain the style and ask your stylist about the best products to use for your cut and how to style it too.

The ‘IT’ Cut: “Slick back short crops is trending at the moment so keep hair in place by sectioning a low side parting and brushing the hair flat against the head using Mizani Pure Style Workable High Hold Gel (£12.95).”   Karen Dodd of Cutting Room Creative.

Hot Tip: If you’re not convinced short hair will suit you and worried about the commitment, why not experiment with a short weave style instead?

The best celebrity crops

Halle Berry – with her oval face and delicate features the actress is able to pull off all types of short cuts from her trade mark pixie cut to the longer crop she is currently sporting.

Emeli Sande – to balance the singer’s wide forehead the star has extra length at the top and styles her short do with soft curls that fall gently on her face.

Amber Rose – with her great head shape, oval face and cute features, the model really has no requirement for hair!

Meagan Good – the actress chose a cut with a long sweeping feminine fringe that’s in keeping with her sexy look.
