New Music Friday – Mr Eazi, Kodie Shane and More!

It’s our favourite day of the week, Fri-nally! We’ve summed up some of the biggest, upcoming tracks that need to be on your playlists as soon as 5pm hits. They are guaranteed to carry the weekend feeling throughout the week!

Life is Eazi, Vol. 2 – Lagos To London – Mr Eazi (MIXTAPE)

(Recommended track ‘Open & Close’)

It’s ya boy Eazi, back with a mixtape guaranteed to abuse that replay button. When you think of AfroBeats, this artist knows the formula to create a wave in that scene, but this time he came on a yellow bus. This mixtape will take you to your ‘Yard & Chill’, bring you to ‘Attention’ that he’s coming to dominate ‘London Town’. With 12 tracks featuring talented artists, Mr Eazi is one not to sleep on.

GucciChanel – One Acen (SINGLE)

From living his ‘Best Life’ in his previous feature, One Acen is now taking centre stage with his latest single release ‘GucciChanel’. The immediate vibe from this track is that it’s a carefree, feel-good song. Perfect for the night drives, One Acen will make us sing the lyrics into existence for those of us grinding on our high street budget. So far this year, he’s been stacking hits after hits and this isn’t one doesn’t disappoint.

Joan of Arc – Little Mix (SINGLE)

It seems like strong, liberated women are the inspirations for Little Mix’s recent singles, and we aren’t complaining. ‘Joan of Arc’ is a single on their anticipated album LM5 and this could be the new independent woman anthem. From ‘stanning myself’ to putting ‘my own rock on my hand’, the words of this song vibrates confidence and self-love! Warning: this song does not include any radio shout outs, Instagram posts or receipts (like all the ‘Woman Like Me’ drama). Keep sipping on that tea as there will be none spilt for this single.

Bra Fie (Come Home) – Fuse ODG ft. Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley (VIDEO)

Fuse and Damian blessed us with a perfect fusion of afrobeat and reggae in this empowering track about bringing decedents back home – mentally, physically and spiritually. Also, ‘Bra Fie’ translates to ‘Come Home’ from the Ghanaian language ‘twi’.
This beautiful blend of collaboration and culture is rare but necessary as the music video address the history of ‘working as slaves living ravenous’. Down to the social injustice of many begging ‘please don’t shoot me, we are one’. This momentous track is the united anthem we never knew we needed!

Sugar Cane – Shakka (VIDEO)

Now, we know this track has been around for a bit – but the melanin magic in this beautiful vid will make it timeless. For those who don’t know Shakka, ‘Say Nadda’ because this talented Londoner is making a comeback. Whilst drowning in #BlackGirlMagic in his latest video ‘Sugar Cane’, this love song is one you wish your Man Crush Monday will sing to you. With an incredibly catchy chorus, this upbeat single is a breath of fresh air compared to the typical sexualised love song videos.

Young Heart Throb – Kodie Shane (ALBUM)

(Recommended track ‘High Speeds’)

Kodie Shane is a queer 20-year-old artist making her own wave in the Hip-Hop scene. She’s already had high-profile collaborations, one being with Lil Yachty on the single ‘Sad’, for which she was able to generate millions of streams. Between that time, she’s been featured in Vogue’s 21 Under 21 Most Influential issue, as well as Complex, Noisey, Billboard – and now, Pride! ‘Young Heart Throb’ is her debut album featuring 15 tracks and the one we have been loving is ‘High Speeds’ – when that second verse hits, we well and truly understood the hype. We can tell that nothing’s stopping her from creating her legacy.
