New Music Friday – Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Calvin Harris and More!

Say hey hey! to Fri-YAY! We’ve grabbed up some songs that you will not be able to stop listening to to get your weekend started the right way…

7 rings – Ariana Grande

Her hit song ‘thank u, next’, has been running the charts top 10 for over ten weeks now, sticking like glue at number 1 for the first six weeks running. With the video’s references to Mean Girls and other films of ‘Bring It On generation’, Ariana seems to be setting herself a trend. Her brand new single, ‘7 rings’ is inspired by ‘Favourite Things’ from The Sound of Music and is looking to be another victorious single. Some might say money can’t buy you happiness… but Ariana certainly disagrees.

Don’t Call Me Up – Mabel

It’s one of those songs that makes you want to breakup with the boyfriend you may or may not have. The BRIT Award 2019 nominee has a new video that has major Dua Lipa, ‘New Rules’ vibes. Remember that, with its ‘leave that boy alone’ lyrics we all lived by, besides Dua Lipa (ironically)? Well the music video for Mabel’s new banger isn’t far off it. Dear Mabel’s ex, I almost feel bad for you but she has made her message loud and clear… please, don’t call her up!

Twerk – City Girls ft. Cardi B

Months before release, everyone was already talking about this epic collaboration – and it’s finally here. The video’s concept was built off of a contest that City Girls announced in November and the goal was simple… to find the world’s ‘greatest twerker’. The best applicants were flown out (or, flewed out) to compete for $25,000 and the title of the best booty-shaker in the world. Not one for the more conservative out there, it’s definitely a catchy collaboration, with Cardi B making plenty of references back to her stripper origins. Since being released, the video has had a big reaction on Twitter, with some people feeling offended by the lack of white girls in the video. Awks. Hold on when you watch this, because this is one bouncy song.

Giant – Calvin Harris, Rag’n’Bone Man

If you want to feel motivated, this is the song for you. We can definitely see this being played in the gym or on a road trip down some country lanes or through the desert. Calvin Harris has done it again with a song that makes you want to get up and conquer the world. Only the lyric video has been released so far but we can certainly imagine how epic the music video is going to be for this one.

Babyface Savage – Bhad Bhabie

How bout dat!? It seems that this once teenage-nightmare, formally known as the ‘Cash Me Outside girl from Dr. Phil’, is making a name for herself, becoming quite the rapper and entrepreneur with make up deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and her debut mixtape recently being released. The 15-year-old performed at Reading and Leeds Festival last year with the crowd singing along to her biggest ‘hits’ so its no surprise that new release, ‘Babyface Savage’ has reached almost eight million views in just one week. Whether it’s actually any good or not… we’ll leave it to you to decide.
