Marsai Martin and Issa Rae’s new film, Little, is a BIG deal

New movie alert! Our absolute faves Regina Hall, Issa Rae and Black-ish‘s breakout star Marsai Martin join up in an upcoming hit comedy, Little – and along with looking to be an absolute blast, the movie is set to make history in the best way.

As well as coming up with the story idea, and starring in it, 14-year-old Martin is also an executive producer on the film, meaning that she’s set to be the youngest person to have an executive producer movie credit in Hollywood history – talk about Black Excellence!

In the hilarious trailer, which dropped on Wednesday (9th January), we see Regina Hall as Jordan Sanders, a powerful and mean tech mogul, wake up one day back in her 13-year-old body – cue Marsai Martin. Insecure’s Issa Rae co-stars as Jordan’s undervalued personal assistant who pretends to be young Jordan’s guardian, until they can figure out how to get her back into her adult body – all while ensuring her career stays thriving. Whew!

The movie, which is slated for UK release in April, was originally Marsai Martin’s idea, but as told to The Hollywood Reporter, it came after firing her agent who told her to “just chill” during a hiatus from Black-ish.

‘You don’t really see a 14-year-old creating her own stuff and making it into theatres,’ Martin recently told Essence. ‘That’s why you have to start working with people that will trust you and will believe that you can do it and will trust that you can carry such a big responsibility.’ Amen to that!

The young star also credits the Tom Hanks movie Big as an inspiration, where a 12-year–old boy becomes a 30-year-old man overnight.

We’re so excited to see this spectacular cast in action – watch the trailer in full below!

Little is due to hit UK cinemas on 12th April 2019.
