Stormzy and J Hus win big at the KA & GRM Daily Rated Awards

We’ve reached the time of the year where we start looking back over the last 12 months in arts and entertainment, and recognise who’s been doing it big.

And at Camden Roundhouse on Tuesday night (24th October), the biggest stars of grime and rap music were in full force for the KA and GRM Daily Rated Awards.

J Hus walked away with two awards for Best Track (‘Did You See’) and Best Album for Common Sense. This marks another high point in what has been a fantastic year for the 22-year-old East Londoner; as well as being up for four MOBOs next month, Common Sense continues to receive love from radio stations and fans, after reaching no. 6 on the official charts in the week of its release.

Crossover king Stormzy also received two awards for Best Video (Big For Your Boots’) and for Artist of the Year – well deserved!

‘There have been so many artists that have inspired me in my career and I’ve worked very hard this year so thank you. I love you guys,’ he told the appreciative crowd.

Lethal Bizzle – creator of our unofficial National Anthem, ‘POW’ – won the Legacy Award, for his incredible impact on the grime scene.

Accepting the award from Posty and Mistajam, Bizzle said:

‘I want to dedicate the award to everyone in the room right now, from artists in the UK to everyone in the industry from the radio stations to all the DJs, the press – a big shout out to my manager as well. This is the most important thing I’ve won in my career, so thank you!’.

As well as the awards, there were performances from the likes of Dave, AJ Tracey, Kojo Funds, a surprise appearance from Stormzy, and Stefflon Don – who stunned in with a lime green wig, and matching faux fur coats. (*adds to winter lookbook*)
