Idris Elba teams up with Mumford & Sons in new video

Is there no end to Idris Elba’s talents?

The British actor, producer and occasional rapper can now add music video director to his already impressive CV after folk group Mumford & Sons tapped him to direct the clip for their latest single, ‘Lover of the Light.’

The video for the track, taken from the band’s second album Babel, which debuted in both the UK and US at number one, marks Elba’s first outing in the director’s chair and was shot in and around the Pembrokeshire countryside in Wales but does not feature any of the groups members. The surprise pairing may not even have happened, say the group, who insist the idea to have Elba direct and star in the clip came about during an “ale-infused conversation in a pub in London”. They said, “We are huge fans of Idris Elba’s acting work, as pretty much anyone can agree he’s the most badass British actor since Richard Briars. We’ve been fortunate to work with some great directors in the past, but we’ve always been uncomfortable with the process of making music videos. Talking to Idris and Dan about making a video that we’re not in made it a lot more fun to think about.”
