Emeli Sande has proven that the impossible is possible as it was announced that her debut album “Our Version Of Events” has overtaken Adele’s multi-platinum selling album ’21’. Just when we all thought Adele was unstoppable… Emeli Sande appeared and has shaken up the charts this year. Clearly it only takes another Adele (Sande’s actual first name) to beat one!
There’s no doubt that Sande truly feels like she’s in heaven right now as the Scottish sensation’s debut album has shifted nearly 660,000 copies since its release back in February 2012 and the Official Charts Company have now confirmed that it is this year’s top-selling UK album. The company’s managing director, Martin Talbot, said “At a time when it is as hard as ever for new artists to break through, it is fantastic that Emeli Sande now has the official biggest selling album of 2012 so far. ”
The stats do not give details about the monthly breakdown of sales but considering Emeli performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics, it’s safe to assume that this huge exposure has benefitted these sales greatly. Good on her!
