Happy 20th birthday, ‘Destiny’s Child’! Celebrating the group’s very first album

Though it’s hard to believe, there was one point in history where the world didn’t already know who the ladies of Destiny’s Child were.

Two decades ago, on 17th February 1998, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson were on the verge of releasing their debut album, the self-titled ‘Destiny’s Child’ – and it was the start of something wonderful…

We couldn’t let the 20th anniversary of ‘Destiny’s Child’ pass us by this weekend without a celebration. Here at Pride we have teamed up with global music streaming service, Deezer, to launch the Destiny’s Child 20th Anniversary Playlist.

The playlist kicks off with the group’s only two tracks that made it to number 1 in the UK: ‘Independent Women’ and ‘Soldier’. Then taking it back to the beginning with ‘No, No, No’ and ‘Bad Habit’, all the way through to their later tracks including ‘Soldier’ and ‘Bootylicious’.

Crank up the volume, hit repeat, and spend the weekend Jumpin’, Jumpin’…

Dom Wallace, Global Pop Editor, Deezer added“There’s no doubting the impact that Destiny’s Child has had on music, culture and empowerment over the last 20 years. What better way to celebrate 20 years of Destiny’s Child than by playing their music loud for everyone to hear. That’s certainly what we’ll be doing over at Deezer HQ.”

Amen to that! Destiny’s Child had a massive impact on our childhoods/young adulthoods and continues to get us up dancing, whatever the weather.

The playlist is available to download or stream here and users can sign up to Deezer Premium+ £9.99 to enjoy the songs advert free, on any mobile device or desktop.
