Common: “Erykah Badu & Serena Williams taught me to be more of a man”

Common’s new memoir, ‘One Day It’ll All Make Sense’ has opened up about his high-profile relationships with Serena Williams and Erykah Badu. Described as ‘magnificent’ by Dr. Maya Angelou, Common’s foray into writing talks about love lessons, his plans for the future and what he’s learned over the years, crediting in particular the two women for teaching him to be himself.

“I learned to speak my mind and be the man I’m supposed to be…I’ve learned to just be myself—more of a man—in any relationship.”

Speaking about why his story was so well-received, the Chi-town rapper believes the level of honesty in the book means people can relate to his experiences.

This latest venture has seen the award-winning rapper and actor add New York Times best-selling author to his list of accomplishments, and with his next album, ‘The Dreamer, The Believer’ scheduled for release in December, fans anticipate something great from the man who is anything but common!
