Halloween 2017: The best of the best celebrity costumes

For many people, their childhood Halloween experiences were less concerned with trick or treating and pumpkin carving, and more with unimpressed mothers ignoring the ghost-themed toys in the shop, and telling you to stay away from devil nonsense. (No? Just me? Oh.)

But one of the best things about being an adult is that you have the choice to do whatever you like for Halloween – and in a lot of cases, this means making up for lost time, and going hard when it comes to costumes.

With their unlimited resources and funds, celebrities often are the ones to watch every year – and we’ve rounded up the finest of the celebs’ costumes for 2017. Let us know your favourites @Pridemag – and the ones you’re taking a note of for next year…

Beyoncé and Jay-Z as Lil’ Kim and Biggie

Who would we be if we didn’t start off with a bit of Bey? The new mum-of-three donned a black wig (which we LOVE) and some figure hugging orange bottoms for her Lil’ Kim look, while new papa Jay-Z completed the couple look by dressing as Biggie. A WIN, we’d say – though we doubt friend of the Carters, Nicki Minaj, is too impressed with the tribute…

Cardi B as Cruella DeVil

The Bronx rap sensation has had a pretty incredible seven days. As well as landing the cover for Rolling Stone’s 50th anniversary issue and getting engaged to Offset of Migos, she’s also snatching wigs and dalmatian puppy furs… as Disney villain Cruella DeVil, of course! Or, excuse us: ‘Bruella DeVil’. Insecure‘s Hood Yoda would be proud.

Kelly Rowland and Tim Witherspoon as Strangé and Eddie Murphy

Remember when Grace Jones’ epic turn as Strangé in classic Eddie Murphy flick, Boomerang? Well Kelly decided to pay fierce tribute with her outfit this year, and even roped in hubby Tim to dress up as Mr Murphy himself. Fabulous. #itstinkssogood

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade as Milli Vanilli

We are LOVING the couples costumes this year! Gabrielle and Dwyane continue to provide us the cutest twosome moments, and this Milli Vanilli tribute just adds to the list.

Demi Lovato as Selena Quintanilla

Okay, so Demi has been COMING. THROUGH. with some impressive levels of slay in the past couple of months, and with this turn as late, great, Latina star Selena, she’s made it very clear that she’s not done impressing us. Sorry, Not Sorry.

Jessica Alba as Juno

Jessica Alba is a celebrity who always has time for a bit of costume fun, come October 31st – and again, she’s teamed up with BFF Kelly Sawyer for a joint concept. They’re Juno and Paulie, the teen parents to be from 2007 indie classic, Juno! Very creative, don’t ya think?

Jackie Aina and Denis as the dudes of Good Burger

YouTube favourite and makeup expert Jackie Aina, and business strategist boyfriend Denis have been giving us all the #blacklove feels throughout 2017, as they’ve become more and more open with their relationship on social media.

And this Halloween, they of course did an outfit together – Dexter (Kenan Thompson) and Ed (Kel Mitchell) of kids classic, Good Burger. Sidenote: we’re loving the braided bob!

Diggy Simmons as Jim Kelly

Long gone are the days of Run’s House on MTV Base, and 11-year-old Diggy running around after his mama, Justine. Now, the 22-year-old is busy establishing his own music career – and he took a brief break to pay tribute to Blaxploitaition film actor and martial artist, Jim Kelly.
