J-Hud speaks: “Faith gave me strength”

Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has come out publicly to say that her faith in God kept her going and helped her “not to be bitter” following the murders of her mother, brother and nephew back in 2008. Many were were shocked when the 30-year-old singer was called to the stand as a witness when the trial of William Balfour –the man accused of the killings –began just this week.

A source close to the star said, “Her faith has kept her from becoming bitter and while she wants Balfour convicted – obviously – her faith is keeping her from becoming a hater. She knows that would destroy her and impact negatively the lives of both [fiancé] David [Otunga] and her beautiful baby boy, David Jr. That girl is all about faith and family. Pure and simple. Most notably during her testimony, was the fact that Hudson told courts that her family had never approved of Balfour and were strogly oppsed to his relationship with her sister Julia, “I told her over and over again to not marry him,” she said. “We did not like how he treated her.”

Balfour is currently standing trial for the murders of Hudson’s mother Darnell Donaldson, brother Jason Hudson and seven-year-old nephew Julian King as he was angry the singer’s sister Julia Hudson didn’t want to be with him anymore. He has denied all charges.
